Meet Kristine Kraus

 

Kristine Kraus is a Seminole County School Board member, former preschool teacher, and a mother of four children who all graduated from Seminole County Public Schools. A survivor of a school shooting as a teenager, Kristine brings a deeply personal understanding of school safety, student mental health, and the importance of supportive learning environments.

Since her election to the School Board in 2018, Kristine has helped secure millions of dollars in funding to expand career and technical education, modernize school facilities, and strengthen student support services. Her work includes securing $2.8 million to grow the SERVE Academy at Winter Springs High School, $3 million in public-private partnerships to modernize the Academy of Health Careers at Seminole High School, and more than $1.9 million to expand school-based mental health services across the district.

 Kristine has championed transparency and community engagement through initiatives like the annual State of Our Schools event and improved district-wide communication with families. She has also played a key role in expanding teacher pipelines, workforce pathways, and partnerships with Seminole State College.

Kristine is running for reelection to continue putting students first by ensuring safe schools, strong public education, and clear pathways to success for every student in Seminole County.
